A Language Plan for the West Kerry Gaeltacht is now available for Public Consultation
A Language Plan for the West Kerry Gaeltacht has been prepared for public consultation, prior to being submitted to Údaras na Gaeltachta before final submission for approval to the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs. There are nine sections in the proposed plan which is written in Irish. An English Language summary is available below
Comharchumann Forbartha Chorca Dhuibhne was selected as the Lead Organisation in the preparation of the Language Plan in West Kerry Gaeltacht in 2014. After a long process of public consultation and research, a draft of the plan is now ready for public consultation.
Comharchumann Forbartha Chorca Dhuibhne will have a period of seven years to implement the plan; and there will be regular review of the implementation process by The Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs in conjunction with Údarás na Gaeltachta.
The plan aims to consolidate and protect home/ native speakers and increase the number of daily speakers in the community.
