Scéim GaelChara 2020

Scéim phíolótach: GaelChara, 2020

Spriocdháta:   Dé hAoine 31ú Eanair, 2020

Ta lúcháir ar Thobar Dhuibhne, Oifig Pleanála Teanga Chiarraí Thiar, an Scéim GaelChara 2020 a fhógairt.

Is scéim phíolótach í seo.

Aidhm na scéime;

Is í aidhm na scéime ná deis a thabhairt do fhoghlaimeoirí Gaelainne feabhas a chur ar a c(h)uid scileanna teanga. Tabharfar deis dóibh an Ghaelainn a chleachtadh mar theanga bheo i suíomh Gaeltachta. Déanfar sin trí deis a thabhairt don bhfoghlaimeoir treimhse ama a chaitheamh i gcomhluadar cainteoir dúchais (an GaelChara). Beidh an foghlaimeoir ábalta feabhas a chur ar a scileanna teanga trína bheith páirteach i ngníomhaíocht nó caitheamh aimsire leis an gcainteoir dúchais: mar shampla; imeacht sóisialta; ag cleachtadh spóirt; ag cleachtadh ceirde; nó trína bheith páirteach i ngníomhaíocht nó caitheamh aimsire eile.

Beifear ag súil go dtapóidh an foghlaimeoir na haon deis a bheith páirteach i saol na Gaelainne agus an Ghaelainn a chleachtadh go nádúrtha mar theanga phobail.

Beidh ar an bhfoghlaimeoir agus an cainteoir dúchais 30 uair a chloig ar a laghad a chaitheamh ag labhairt agus ag cleachtadh na Gaelainne le chéile. Is féidir na huaireanta sin a dhéanamh am ar bith taobh istigh de thréimhse 6 mí (Márta- Lúnasa 2020).

Beidh na rudaí seo a leanas curtha san áireamh agus an t-iarratas á mheas:

  • Tiomantas agus dúthracht na niarratasóirí maidir le húsáid na teanga.
  • Cur síos soiléir ar an ngníomhaíocht/caitheamh aimsire agus ar an amchlár oibre.
  • Cur síos ar spriocanna teanga an fhoghlaimeora agus ar conas a bhainfear na spriocanna sin amach.
  • Luach breise: gníomhaíocht nó uaireanta breise agus gníomhartha eile a chuirfidh le hacmhainn teanga an fhoghlaimeora.

Eolas eile

  • Tá an scéim oscailte: (i) d’fhoghlaimeoirí Gaeilge atá ag maireachtaint i LPT[2] Chiarraí Thiar, agus (ii) do chainteoirí dúchais gurb as LPT Chiarraí Thiar dóibh.
  • Níl an scéim seo oiriúnach do glantosaitheoirí nó iad siúd gan bunscileanna na teanga. Tabharfar tús áite d’iarratasóirí a bhfuil leibhéal réasúnta Gaeilge acu, (meánleibhéal íseal nó níos airde).
  • Ní féidir leis na hiarratasóirí aon cheangal fola nó pósta a bheith eatarthu.
  • Beidh ar na rannpháirtithe meastóireacht agus tuairisciú rialta a dhéanamh trí dialann teanga a choiméad agus taifead a dhéanamh ar an dul chun cinn.
  • Is painéal neamhspléach a dhéanfaidh measúnú ar na hiarratais agus is iad a dhéanfaidh an cinneadh
  • Tá an scéim seo teoranta toisc gur scéim phíolótach í.

Ciste

  • Cuirfear €200 ar fáil don bhfoghlaimeoir Gaeilge agus €200 ar fáil don gcainteoir dúchais.
  •  Íocfar leath an deontais ag tús na scéime agus leath eile nuair atá Tobar Dhuibhbne sásta go bhfuil an clár críochnaithe go sásúil ag na rannpháirtithe.
  • Caithfear aon mhaoiniú a cheadófar a éileamh taobh istigh de thréimhse 7 mí ón litir thairisceana.
  • Mar gur scéim phíolótach í seo, tá an ciste iomlán teoranta.

Próiseas Iarratais

Scéim Gaelchara 2019 (pilot scheme)

Closing Date: Friday 31 January, 2020

Tobar Dhuibhne are pleased to announce a new pilot scheme called Gaelchara.

Aims of the scheme

The aim of the scheme is to give Irish-language learners living in LPT Chiarraí Thiar an opportunity to practice Irish as a living, every-day, community language. The basic idea is that the learner improves his or her spoken Irish by participating in a day-to-day activity or pastime with a native speaker (the Gaelchara) in a Gaeltacht setting. The learner will team-up with a native speaker and both of them will participate in a social, cultural or sporting activity, be that a craft, a pastime, a sport or other activity or pastime. Irish will be the language spoken and practiced during this time.

The learner will get the opportunity to practice their Irish and improve their language skills.

Additionally, it is hoped the leaner will avail of all opportunities to immerse themselves in daily life where Irish is spoken as a community language, and use every opportunity to speak Irish in a natural environment.

The native speaker and the learner are required to commit to a minimum of 30 hours over a 6-month period (March – August 2020).

The following will be taken into consideration when assessing the applications:

  • The language objectives of the learner and how these objectives will be achieved.
  • The proposed pastime or activity and a timetable or plan for the project.
  • The motivation of the applicants as regards practicing and improving the language skills of the learner.
  • Extra initiatives that gives added value to the application: for example, extra hours of practice or other activities that will help the learner improve his or her Irish

Other information

  • The scheme is only open to residents of LPT[2] Chiarraí Thiar who are committed to learning Irish and to native Irish speakers from LPT Chiarraí Thiar.
  • This scheme does not suit total beginners or those who do not have basic skills in Irish. Priority will be given to those who have a reasonable grasp of Irish (lower intermediate  or higher).
  • Applicants cannot be related, ether by blood or marital status
  • The Learner and GaelChara must each provide regular reports on their progress which will be done by keeping a language diary to record progress and outcomes.
  • An independent panel will assess all applications and will also decide on the awards.
  • This is a pilot scheme and therefore limited

Grant

  • €200 will be made available to the learner and €200 will be made available to the native speaker.
  • Half the grant will be paid at the start and the remainder will be paid when the programme is completed to the satisfaction of Tobar Dhuibhne.
  • Any grant awarded must be claimed within a 7 months of the letter of offer.
  • As this is a pilot scheme, the fund is limited.

Application process

An Application form must be completed, an independent panel will assess the applications and a committee will decide on the awards.

An application can be made alone or with a recognised Learner/GaelChara. Learners/GaelChara that apply alone will be matched with another suitable Learner/GaelChara.

The application form is available from Tobar Dhuibhne: pleanteanga@cfcd.ie or 066 9156100
